Vienna is the county seat of Maries County, set in the rolling timbered hills of the central Ozarks. With a county population of only a few thousand and a town of roughly 600, this is genuinely rural country — big blocks of woods, scattered pasture, and long stretches of gravel where a tract can carry real privacy without giving up county-road access.

The town sits near the Gasconade River valley, which defines the character of the ground here: timbered ridges falling to river and creek bottom, cold water, and some of the best floating and fishing in the state.
