The Land in Ozark County

Ozark County is rugged, densely forested highland country along the Arkansas line, drained by Bryant Creek and the North Fork River and touching the clear water of Norfork Lake. Steep oak-hickory and pine ridges fall away to cold, spring-fed streams, with much of the county lying in or against Mark Twain National Forest. Buyers are drawn to big timbered blocks, some of the strongest whitetail and turkey hunting in the state, and world-class trout and smallmouth water. Thin, rocky soils keep any farming to pasture and hay in the narrow valleys. Anchored by Gainesville, this is country for a serious hunting retreat, a cold-water fishing tract, or a remote recreational holding.
